Lanvin for H&M Ljubljana: Croatian invasion

Last Updated on January 31, 2012

It's 12:30 and I've just returned from H&M. This is what was still available on the racks at 11:20 (not including a few pairs of shoes):

Lanvin for H&M Ljubljana

I almost got lost in the store because I had no idea where they'd set up the "designated area". When I found it, my attention was immediately consumed not by the clothes but the fact that almost everyone around me was speaking Croatian. I talked to a couple of girls from Varaždin (a 2 hour drive) and they said there had been people from places even further away from Ljubljana queuing up hours earlier. They (including Jelena Veljača, praised by Croatian media as the fashion icon) came here because there are no H&M stores in Croatia. I suspect the Lanvin for H&M shopping bags will be the most sought-after accessory in Zagreb this winter.

After the initial surprise I set off to inspect the clothes. They looked the same as H&M's regular selection to me in both quality and design aspects. If I hadn't known about the collaboration, I'd never have guessed they were a part of a special line. Although I was expecting something like that, I still think (and hoped until the end) it could've all been better. Alas!

  2. am I the only one who finds this kinda sad? anyway, thanks for sharing, esp. the photo material - I was thinking I'd maybe go check it out in the evening, but I see it won't be necessary. :D

    • I thought it was pretty awesome that people made trips from Croatia for ~fashion~. Definitely my highlight of the day. However, yeah, the rest of the story is kinda sad. I think you haven't missed much.

  3. oh, god the clothes look awful! like some terrible 80's bad taste dress up party. and it is so sad that a celebrity like Jelena Veljaca went and queued up like that, i mean, it is totally true that there are no real celebrities in Croatia.
Lanvin for H&M bag as the main shopping accesory! i hope you were being sarcastic :D because even the thought of it is simply ghastly...

  4. Well, I can't condemn Croats for making "fashion trips". We would probably go all ballistic as well if we wouldn't have H&M stores. But looking at your picture there really isn't much to miss. I will go and check it anyway...at least to see the prices.
